1. ‘The New Voyager in Lisbon’ (2018 Emma Swinscoe).  ‘The New Voyager’ has a new map coming out. The beautiful illustrations of ‘The New Voyager in Lisbon’ are hand drawn by local artist Rafaela Rodrigues and the map is amazing.

This is also the first city guide of The New Voyager Collection to be co-edited with Álvaro Ramos the co-founder of Cabana. Our city guides are designed and written for children to read and explore by themselves. Our guides compile 30 must-see fantastic places, all illustrated with colorful and playful icons. ‘The New Voyager’ maps make wonderful souvenirs to frame afterwards.

  7. Small buildings (Infographics for the People). I have a collection of small metal souvenir buildings. These little architectural caricatures they‘ve influenced the way that I draw landmarks on maps. I’m trying to capture the key elements of the structures, and a strict aerial view is often not the best way to convey the feeling of a building, especially at a small size.

There’s nothing original about this thinking, pictorial map-makers have been doing this kind of thing for a very long time. I clearly am not in the elevated category of Bollmann-Bildkarten, as my maps have buildings that are closer to pictograms than they are to architectural renderings.
